About
Picture
My name is Mandy and I was born and raised in New Hampshire where I still live today. I've been an animal lover my entire life and have always felt a very strong connection with them. As a child I spent countless hours playing in ponds and streams looking for frogs, turtles, and snakes. I spent a lot of time at my aunt's farm in the country where I would hang out with the horses. I literally lived for going on trail rides and spending time grooming them. I'd even climb the apple tree out in the field to knock apples down for them! Horses were my first love and I absolutely love photographing them. I just wish I was into photography back then, but sadly I wasn't.

My passion for photography didn't begin until 2004 when I purchased my first DSLR camera, the Canon Rebel. With my days at my aunt's farm behind me I had to find a new hobby and had recently gotten into whale watching. It didn't take long to realize that the cheap camera that I was using wasn’t able to capture photos that I was happy with so I splurged on a "real" camera and haven’t looked back.

Up until recently when I started photographing pets, my main area of photography was nature and wildlife. I still go whale watching as often as I can and you can check out my whale photography on my other website www.whalebreath.com. Aside from whales, I thoroughly enjoy photographing the sunrise on our coast and just seascapes in general.

I am a self taught photographer and have enjoyed the process of learning and experimenting. The learning never ends though and I'm constantly trying to improve and learn more about my photography and of course the editing that follows. I hope that the passion I have for both animals and photography shines through in my photos.
Why Pet Photography?

To be honest, I did attempt horse photography a few years ago, but never really dedicated myself to it. It became more of a hobby to do on the side. Fast forward to now… my situation is very, very different. I have a 9-year old boxer who has a disease called Degenerative Myelopathy. It’s a disease with no cure or medical treatment. To read more about boy, click on the “Logan’s Story” link above.

Knowing how quickly things with this disease can progress and not knowing how much time I have left with Logan, I decided to have photos taken of us together. As a photographer, I have tons of photos of him, but not many of us together aside from a few cell phone selfies. I reached out to a friend who is also a photographer and she agreed to come over right away to do a session.

The excitement and anticipation that I felt waiting to see her photos along with the emotional attachment that I felt looking at the photos made me realize what a gift photography can be. Knowing that I have these photos of my boy and I together brings me so much comfort during this difficult time. My hope, or maybe I should say mission, is to give other pet owners that same sense of comfort in knowing that they have beautiful photos of their pets, whatever their pet(s) may be, to have for years to come.

I would love to photograph any pets that you'd like photos of! Feel free to reach out to schedule a photo session. I look forward to hearing from you.
